Housing Costs

Helpful Websites
Below are several websites created by local rental agencies to promote their properties. SLIS does not advocate any particular agency. We felt these websites might make relocation a little easier. Most sites have color photos of the property, floor plans, amenities, rents, and city maps of the location. We recommend asking if the property is rented primarily to graduate students and professionals. Some apartment complexes rent primarily to undergraduates so it's good to ask about the potential living environment.

On-Campus

Indiana University Residential Services
Residential Programs and Services rents all on campus apartment complexes and graduate dorms. Many of their plans include utilities and can include meal plans.

Graduate and Professional Student Organziation (includes shared housing)
GPSO provides a list of housing opportunities for graduate students interested in off-campus or shared housing. The list is built and maintained by graduate students for graduate students.

IU Real Estate Department, Property Management
(812-855-3054)
IU owns many houses on and around campus that are rented to students, faculty and staff only. They do not maintain a website so call to check on availability.

Local Newspapers

Indiana Daily Student Classifieds
Campus newspaper. Many of the rentals listed on within easy walking distance of campus.

The Bloomington Herald Times Classifieds
Bloomington local newspaper. Rentals for Monroe county as well as within city limits. Good source for house rentals not affiliated with property management companies.
