III. A critical view
Web (and soon Library) 2.0 participants seem to be happy because of their interest in pursuing self-expression or socializing, not in making money
It is clear that the economic value of each individual contribution (blog entryÅc) is trivial
However, when these activities are aggregated on a web-wide scale the business becomes lucrative
Participants operate happily in an attention economy while the owners of the services operate happily in a cash economy
