SLIS alumna Sara Laughlin (MLS β72) was awarded the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce - Franklin Initiative.
The award was presented at the 11th Annual Educators of the Year awards ceremony held November 10th at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center.
The Educators of the Year award recipients were also featured in an article in the Bloomington, Indiana newspaper (Herald Times) by Laura Lane (November 11, 2011).

- βThe winners were nominated by parents, students or peers because of what they are doing in the classroom day to day, the leadership they are showing and the difference they are making,β said chamber spokesman Matt Wysocki.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Sara Laughlin, director of the Monroe County Public Library since 2007, for innovations involving school libraries and for increasing use of the public.
