SLIS is proud of our graduates. And, many alumni are working in interesting positions around the country. An example is Greg Bailey (MLS'10) who is working at the East Texas Research Center (ETRC) in the Ralph W. Steen Library. His job is located at the Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.

In a recent email interview, Greg told us about his new job.

Main Job Duties: My official job title is Archives and Repository Librarian. Essentially I am the University Archivist and Records Manager. I am also in the works of setting up the university's first Institutional Repository (IR).

Favorite Aspects: I love working with materials that represent the history of SFA. I also have the pleasure of working in an archives that preserves the history of the university as well as the region of East Texas.

Reflection on Time at SLIS: Besides the theories and principles of archives from classes, I can't stress how much working in the Office of Archives and Records Management at IU Bloomington for a year and a half — and, also doing my internship there — helped me with my career. Being able put to practice what I learned in my classes was invaluable. Being able to work with professionals like Dina, Phil, Kate, Brad and Carrie provided me with a great amount of guidance and experience.

Note: Within his Master of Library Science degree, Greg completed the Archives and Records Management Specialization.
