The American Library Association (ALA) Committee on Accreditation has reaccredited Indiana University’s Master of Library Science (MLS) and Master of Information Science (MIS) degree programs through Spring 2019. IU’s programs have been continuously accredited by ALA since 1951.
Many alumni and colleagues helped support the school throughout the review for reaccreditation. Thank you for contributing to early planning meetings in Fall 2010, working on drafts of the self study, responding to the external reviewers’ survey, and meeting with the review panel during the site visit, and generally providing support and encouragement. Your comments and advice have contributed to a better understanding of our school and of the careers that lie ahead for future graduates.
The External Review Panel met with SLIS faculty, staff, and students on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses in March 2012. (The photo above was taken during that visit. Dean Debora Shaw, Associate Dean Howard Rosenbaum, and review panel chair Michèle Cloonan met with the Committee on Accreditation on June 24, 2012, during the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, California. ALA announced its accreditation decisions on July 3, 2012.
