The Fall 2012 SLIS Orientation sessions are designed to welcome you - and to give you an opportunity to meet fellow SLIS students, faculty, and staff.

These sessions mark the beginning of a several orientation events hosted at SLIS and at Indiana University to help you as you begin your graduate studies. Watch the SLIS Listservs for options. Fall classes start on Monday, 8/20/12.

The SLIS Autumn Reception is a fun annual event. This year it will be held on Monday, September 17 from 7:00-9:30 p.m. at Grazie! Italian Eatery in downtown Bloomington (on the square.)

SLIS student chapters of professional associations will sponsor activities during September and October. These groups offer important connections to your professional future. Learn about conferences, continuing education, listservs, journals, career planning and networking through participation in these student groups.

The SLIS Career Services Office is a peer-supported office that offers drop-in and scheduled advising during office hours, and several events. This is a place to start thinking about your job search process.

In addition, students are encouraged to attend SLIS lectures, UITS (University Information Technology Services) free workshops, and IU Libraries free workshops. These opportunities will help you to network with people in the field, and will help enhance your résumé.
