Course Description

Studies functions and techniques of system analysis, design, and development. Includes scientific analysis, data collection techniques, file design and management, processing and equipment requirements. This course stresses current system analysis trends and communications between end-users and the information processing department. Includes analysis of text generated and real-life projects for problems and solutions.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to
  1. Identify and explain the various steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle and the tasks associated with each step.
  2. Discuss the role of the systems analyst in the development life cycle.
  3. Identify and distinguish design methodologies used in systems design.
  4. Describe the basic techniques of project estimating, writing detail specifications, and developing a cost/benefit analysis.
  5. Understand the principles of problem solving from readings and examples.
  6. Work within the structure of a project team by utilizing communications and analysis.
