Seung Woo Chae is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Information and Library Science at Indiana University, Bloomington. Before getting into academia, he worked as a TV producer for 7 years and as a PR/advertising manager for 4 years in South Korea. His last job in the industry was as a TV producer in the entertainment program division of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), which is the largest broadcaster in South Korea producing a variety of K-content. Based on his industry experience, his research centers on communication on video-based social media platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok, with a specific focus on how the text functionalities (e.g., chat on Twitch, comment on YouTube) are associated with the content of videos. Currently, he works on a project on science communication during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is funded by the National Science Foundation (PI: Dr. Hara).
Side note: He is a big fan of the Indiana Pacers and loves the NBA.
