• State Librarian Makes Promotions, Additions to State Library Leadership
INDIANAPOLIS (October 30, 2012) – Indiana's State Librarian Roberta L. Brooker recently made additions to the State Library's leadership team when she hired Connie Bruder as Associate Director of Public Services and promoted Wendy J. Knapp from Professional Development Office (PDO) Supervisor to Associate Director of Statewide Library Services.
Ms. Bruder received her MLS from Indiana University in 2000. Prior to joining the State Library, she worked at the Indiana University Library in Bloomington, the IUPUI University Library, and as the Head Circulation Librarian at the Tippecanoe County Public Library. Most recently she served as Audio Visual Department Head at the Lebanon Public Library. As Associate Director of Public Services, Connie oversees the day-to-day operations of State Library's multiple collections, as well as any public events and patron outreach activities.
"Connie has really hit the ground running as the State Library's Associate Director of Public Services," said Brooker. "There has been significant improvements in public services and more Hoosiers are now being connected to the unique materials available within the State Library's collections."
Wendy Knapp was promoted to Associate Director of Statewide Services for the Indiana State Library, replacing Jim Corridan, who left the library in August. She received her MLS from Indiana University in 2002, and joined the State Library in 2005. Between 2005 and 2007, she served as the planning consultant and e-rate state coordinator for the Library Development Office. In 2007, she was promoted to head the newly-created PDO where she oversaw the implementation of the new administrative rule for certification and standards as well as created multiple professional development opportunities for Hoosier librarians. Prior to joining the State Library, Ms. Knapp worked at the Indianapolis Marion County Public library and the IUPUI University Library.
"Wendy has been a valuable leader at the Indiana State Library for over seven years," said Brooker. "Her wide range of experience and extensive knowledge of both LDO and PDO programs and services made her an ideal fit for the Associate Director of Statewide Services position."
