Digital Libraries

Prepare for a career designing and operating digital libraries

From preserving cultural materials to exploring how new technologies can be used to share information, digital services are an area of tremendous growth for libraries and other information science institutions. Become one of the architects of information exchange with the digital libraries specialization, which is available to both Master of Information Science (M.I.S.) and Master of Library Science (M.L.S.) students.

This specialization focuses on the design and operation of digital libraries from a socio-technical perspective, and requires an internship in an information management environment. You’ll continue to hone your expertise as a digital library specialist by choosing from a broad range of electives, including courses in information architecture for the web, human-computer interaction, indexing, web programming, and more.
